Mono Firmware V2.0 Thread

Looking forward to see the Mk2 in action. Thanks Mathieu for the info on the Mk1 v Mk2.

Yes, it’ll be interesting to see how the differences in resolution and performance options affect the sound between revisions, and so long as there is otherwise feature parity I’m sure if I wanted to “upgrade” there would be someone to care less about one versus the other and I’ll be able to trade up

idk if anyone has asked this either. but is it possible to save a randomized/modulated STEP on the sequencer as a mod note?

strange machine, in both good and bad way ( but more in good:) )

Bad surprise today while trying to put in function my Mono: no reaction, not an LED which lights up, nothing, nada. Switching to bootloader V2 mode: it reacts (LEDs flashing while waiting for the firmware) but the update fails (blocking on the famous 3 white LEDs after 2 laps of the sequencer LEDs progression track). I had to reset the memory
and lose all my presets (sysex backup is impossible in bootloader mode). After the memory purge operation, the Mono spontaneously resumes where it was left (the 3 fixed LEDs), then finishes the update.

The firmware was (and still is) 2.0r, and the machine has worked without a hitch (except for the few bugs already reported) from the date of release of the said firmware until today. No problems encountered during the initial update about 1 month ago. Question @Matthieu: can turning the Mono on/off not by the power button on the back but directly by a controlled electrical outlet (as I do to simplify the startup of my whole setup) lead to a corruption of the internal backup file(s)? Is there a safety procedure that closes the current writes before switching off when using the ON/OFF button, or does it act as a dry contact?

Strange behavior of the general envelope during sequencing on firmware 2.0r : Short notes take absolutely no account of the release level, while held notes do. This is especially audible when stopping the sequencer (held notes continue in correspondence with the selected release time, while single notes die immediately). I should point out that no modulation is applied to the general envelope in this excerpt:

is there any firmware where the adsr is working in the sequencer? for me adsr is fine when i play the notes, but in a sequence i can only control ad. not sr

Hello everyone,

Fixed all tyhe butgs reported so far, V2.0.1 is available here :
Download

I have tried repeating some bugs reported here without success. If you encounter these bugs again, since it seems to be very specific now, and probably related to the whole setup, could you please reach out via email with more details so I could better identify these ?

Regarding the envelope “issue” : this is actually a feature. On “trig” notes, e.g. note with a length of wero, the envelope acts as AD, so sustain and releaser are useless, since the note is very short (303-style). On longer note however they are active.
@DG3IL5 the long note video : it seems you are blending 2 shortcut. To change tyhe pitch either hold the step and press the new pitch, or remove the note and add it again with the pitch selected, it should work!

Cheers,
Mathieu

I just downloaded this and did the upgrade without issue. Testing it now!
Thanks Mathieu!

@Mathieu : I’m sorry to insist, but there is indeed a bug on held notes during a pattern change.

The following video is shot on firmware 2.0.1r

Ah fantastic, got it now ! I did not understand that from the video.

Just did the update from 2.0.0 to 2.0.1 and the device doesn’t boot any more. Steps 1, 6 and 8 are flashing and the device is unresponsive.

EDIT
The undocumented memory clear “trick” worked: Hold F#+G#+A#+Follow and power on the device.

@highstandards : steps 1/6/8
 now that’s a new one!

Probably related to this, find in the 2.0.1 patch note :

“Error handling and management : there is now a way to display error and dump
project in case of error for analysis and recovery. If your Mono’s sequencer blinks
with a code, it means an error occurred, contact us!”

i didn’t have any major issues with 2.0 until the other day, when the unit stopped responding to pattern changes (was stuck on pattern 1 always) accent, and slide pages where also completely disabled. deleting steps was also not possible. trying to load another project resulted in the machine freezing. thankfully i was able to dump the first project where i had some of the more important stuff. the unit was fixed after doing the memory clear procedure and various reboots. corrupted firmware or something? i’ll do the 2.0.1 update soon.

also @Mathieu, when selecting a step and using the Up or Down keys, is the intended behavior for it to go up a semi tone up or down? i honestly expected it to go up and down in the octaves

still having the problem of midi going in on any channel on the mono. doesn’t matter channel leader is set to send mono ignores it for some reason

EDIT: the issue with Live vs Normal mode seems to be working as expected on v2.0.1r when working with patterns without modnotes, all though not keeping changes made to mod notes from one pattern to another.

The mod notes unfortunately still keeps changes made even if in Live mode.

Dump/receive functions are still completely NOT working.

My complaint about the pattern led intensity seems fixed. Thanks!!

hi how is the new 2.1 firmware ?

2.1 has been great for me. I’ve used it daily since its release.

Occasionally (about once a day?) I get a stuck note, but it usually clears with new notes.

Pattern switching via MIDI PGM Change isn’t working for me? Anyone else having issues? Mono is otherwise receiving clock, start/stop, notes and CCs as expected. Play Mode is Direct Jump (B).

Is there some secret setting I need to enable?

Thanks in advance.
