Morphos bugs, issues, and observations

I just received my Morphos a few days ago (thanks for the fast shipping!) and I’ve been playing around with it quite a bit.

The raw tones and the morphing sounds great! But I’m trying to grapple with several issues that have persisted across many power cycles and remain even after letting the module reach temp for up for 30+ minutes. Most of my observations have already been discussed on a mod wiggler thread (e.g., this post: Norand - Morphos, 3D morphing TZFM VCO - Page 3 - MOD WIGGLER). Below I summarize my thoughts in hopes that we can receive some support:

  • Oscillator coarse frequency knobs have different ranges
  • Detune is > 2 cents and has unequal ranges per oscillator (like the coarse knob)
  • 1v/o tracking is uncalibrated. E.g., 1V changes pitch more than one octave (e.g., an octave in pitch from the oscillators is reached after only ~9 semitones on a 1v/o pitch controller). The 1v/o attenuator settings do not correct this, and there is no calibration mode that I am aware of.
  • Track has odd behavior when sending pitch information into one of the two 1v/o inputs. The freq range on the tracking oscillator shifts by an unknown offset when activated.
  • There is always some tzfm bleeding between oscillators, making it hard to reproduce “pure” tones from either oscillator.

Any help understanding how to fix or work around some or all of these issues would be kindly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

best,

Parris

I’ve had all of the same issues and, in addition, the hole alignment is also off on the front panel. Have you reached out to Norand yet? I’m considering just asking for a refund as the ModWiggler discussion thread implies some of these are hardware issues and will be fixed in the next iteration, leaving us early supporters behind.

I assumed that Norand would monitor this forum? I haven’t reached out directly but am motivated to do so.

I would assume the same but looking around I’m not seeing many, if any, replies from Norand here on this forum.

I’m going to reach out this weekend, the TZFM bleed is a real issue for me and should have been fixed before sending out units to people.
