Mono Firmware V2.0 Thread

Ah Yes, confirmed. I thought it was just MOD notes, but it’s in regular mode too.

Sustain knob does nothing, and Sustain seems to be fixed at 100%

Just dropping a note here that I’ve updated and also have the “Sustain has no effect” issue.

Afaict everything else seems to be working, nice to see it now tunes correctly to “C” rather than “A”

I just wanted to add that the Sustain function appears to respond correctly when controlled via midi CC 45, in case that information either helps others with a temporary workaround, or if it’s useful information for bug squashing.

Hello everyone !

A quick iteration to fix the issues discovered on beta 3 is available :
Download

A sizeable amount of users are having issues with updates, sometime requiring multiple tries before making it work. I am having a hard time reproducing these issues, and thus it might still happen. If this is the case, please continue reporting it here or in emails, I will continue digging the subject, and probably implement a more thorough error checking mechanism on the final version.

Next steps :

  • We were given some excellent suggestion about morphing by some users (thank you guys!) and after thinking it through we will implement it. There will be 2 morphing mode : The current mode, with locked “Main” and “Alt”, but with the added ability to store the current morphing state in another pattern, and a new mode, where once the filter cutoff knob hit full clockwise position, the “Main” and “Alt” pattern will be swapped. Also the filter pot will be pass thru by default when morphing, you’ll need to “grab” the current position when morphing (by turning it fully CCW at the beginning of a morph for exemple), and same for the filter position when releasing FUNC to control filter cutoff.
  • We will release a lot of V2 content this month : a quick manual and multiple videos showcasing the new feature, as well as an in depth manual of the API, including examples.
  • On February 28th, we will officially release V2.0 !

Here is the first video of the V2 series :

Happy beta-testing!

Had some problem to update, but changed computer and then it worked. Was a little worried because Mono did not even start during this problem.

Question 1: is it a feature that the red bright light on the keyboard moves when you move the cut off/filter.
Question 2: anyone changed knobs on Mono? Difficult to change?

Answer 1: Yes, the filter can be “tuned” this way. It’s a new feature in 2.0

Answer 2: I changed the knobs and LOVE them. I had a hard time gripping the original ones when in the heat of the song!

Update: I’m not getting any CV/Gate out of the Norand since the 2.xx update. Anyone else?

What’s it look like now?

Thanks for answers! The new knobs are awesome. Really easy to change too. Firmware 2.0 is really great!

where can you get the new knobs? are they really that easy to change? might be worried to damage something :frowning:

Send a mail to Norand.

Very easy to change. Just pull them straight up with help of a creditcard or similar so you don’t scratch Mono. Then you put in the new knobs. Takes about 10 minutes.

Tips: turn all knobs to far left or right before you install the new knobs. That way you know which way you should install them. If an old knob splits in two parts (outer knob and inner plastic), when you remove them don’t worry. Just keep pull the inner part up with your creditcard. If it’s difficult to pull up the old knobs, try to have Mono on. The heat makes it easier to pull up knobs.

Good luck!

Hi, I updated to the latest firmware, but the midi clock settings don’t seem to work. In the clock setting while selecting page B, the clock from my ERM multiclock sends out clock, but the Mono isn’t receiving anything. Any ideas why? Also, is there a way to check what firmware is installed? It gets confusing after upgrading/downgrading. Thanks!

Can you post a picture? I’m curious to see what these new knobs look like

I believe it’s the knobs showing in the video above. They are a bit longer and have better lightning imo.

i also didn’t get midi working on latest FW (2.0 beta v4) not sure if something went wrong during installation but it’s certainly working

I think the MIDI sync has moved one button over (formerly B, now its C)

Thanks, I’ll give it a shot!

When I use Mono to be slaved by a sequencer, in my case Hapax, the Run red light will light up when I press play on Hapax. When I press Run in Mono, Mono plays but Run light don’t light up. Is this intended? I’ve chosen page C on Midi/Clock on Mono.

A bug encountered on version 2.0b4: After copying / pasting a pattern, the unit no longer responds to edits until another pattern is launched. Also, the sound of the recorded pattern has very little to do with the recorded one, which is particularly frustrating when you think you have kept a sweet spot, and that relistening makes you discover a completely different interpretation. The ‘random’ function is supposed to be a voluntary action

Also : the duophonic mode (Func+Swing+B) doesn’t work anymore
